There are 144,000 hairs on a human head on average

(Christ is the head of the church, and is quoted in Matthew 10:30 “The very hairs of your head are all numbered”. The 144,000 are as the hairs of his head)

The Mayan calendar is 144,000 x 13 days in length, the last day of which is December 21, 2012. Initially this was simply a 144,000 curiosity until I discovered that my parent's birth dates encode the Mayan calendar with the numbers 144 x 13 at odds much less than 1 in 10,000. They both died within the 144 triangle. See slide in this presentation for more information
