[a man] with [his lover] is translated “one with another”, not technically wrong but insipid since it already stated they “kissed one another”
The Hebrew “ad higdal” literally means “until [David] exceeded”, is related to “cause to make large”, and while sufficiently suggestive to get the meaning, is almost certainly an edited version of a more forthright earlier text
